Rooney Statement on Land Conservation Legislation

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Rooney issued the following statement about the vote on the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009: 

“Today I voted to expand the Everglades National Park by nearly 600 acres to better protect and preserve the Everglades.  The Omnibus Public Lands Act will help shelter valuable wetlands and numerous endangered species in South Florida.  In addition to expanding the everglades this bill official establishes the National Landscape Conservation System which will safeguard the Jupiter Inlet Natural Area that includes the historic Jupiter Lighthouse.”
