Media Advisory: Rooney to Tour Treasure Coast Trauma Center

Stuart, FL – Congressman Tom Rooney (R-FL) will tour the Treasure Coast Trauma Center in Fort Pierce tomorrow, April 6, at 10 AM.  The Treasure Coast trauma center, with more than 100 employees, is the only trauma center serving the Treasure Coast Region.  The event will be open to the press.

“When you suffer a traumatic injury, mere minutes can mean the difference between life and death.  Having a trauma center on the Treasure Coast undoubtedly saves lives by helping ensure that our residents can get the specialized, critical care they need, when they need it,” Rooney said.  “I’m looking forward to visiting the Treasure Coast Trauma Center and speaking with its employees to learn more about the care they provide and the lives they save.”

BACKGROUND: The Treasure Coast Trauma Center is in the final stages of the level II trauma center approval process.  Unlike a typical emergency room, a trauma center is equipped to provide specialized, comprehensive emergency services to patients suffering from traumatic injuries.  A trauma center can have a trauma surgeon at a patient’s bedside within minutes after arrival, helping ensure that patients receive care in the critical first hour after injury.
