MEDIA ADVISORY: Rooney to Present Nuclear Regulatory Commission Grant Scholarships to IRSC Students
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) will present scholarships to 13 students at Indian River State College (IRSC) in a ceremony on Thursday, August 5 at 10:00 a.m. The scholarships, awarded to students studying nuclear science and engineering at the IRSC Nuclear Power Plant Technology Institute, are funded through a competitive grant from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
“This competitive grant helps expand educational opportunities for students in the 16th district, so they can develop the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in high-skills, high-wage jobs,” Rooney said. “Safe nuclear power is a critical piece of an all-of-the-above energy solution, and this grant will help ensure that our workforce is prepared to produce nuclear power safely. Congratulations to all the students receiving scholarship awards.”
