Media Advisory: Rooney Schedule for April 5-9

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Rooney (R-Fla.) today announced that he will available to the press at the following events while he visits the 16th district during the Easter work period, and encouraged members of the press to attend:

Monday, April 5

2:45 PM – Presentation of Congressional Award to local high school students Kacie Royce and Colby Royce

WHAT:     Congressman Rooney will present Kacie and Colby Royce with the prestigious Congressional   Award, which recognizes young people for   achievement, initiative and service.  Kacie and Colby earned the distinction by fulfilling requirements for voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness and exploration.

6:00 PM – Keynote address at Glades County Economic Development Council Annual Meeting

WHAT:     Congressman Rooney will discuss a broad range of issues, including the EPA’s proposed rule on numeric nutrient water quality standards for Florida and the effect those standards may have on Florida’s economy.

Tuesday, April 6

10:00 AM – Tour of Treasure Coast Trauma Center
   
WHAT:    Congressman Rooney will tour the Treasure Coast’s only trauma center and speak to its 100+ employees.

12:00 PM – Speech at St. Lucie County Economic Development Council Luncheon

WHAT:    Congressman Rooney will discuss economic issues affecting St. Lucie County.

Thursday, April 8

WHAT:    Congressman Rooney will address the Martin County Republican Club and take questions.

2:00 PM – Tour of Southeastern Printing

WHAT:    Congressman Rooney will visit Southeastern Printing, which was named the “2009 Manufacturer of the Year” by the South Florida Manufacturers’ Association.

5:00 PM – Visit to the Craig Wich Studio of Performing Arts

 WHAT:    Congressman Rooney will visit the Performing Arts Studio, where students will put on a special skit for him.

Friday, April 9

10:15 AM – Speech at Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly

WHAT:     Congressman Rooney will deliver an educational speech to students who have demonstrated strong leadership.

11:45 AM – Speech at Martin County Council Chambers Luncheon

WHAT:    Congressman Rooney will discuss issues before Congress, including health care and his efforts to uphold the 10th amendment to the Constitution.
