2009 Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Rooney (R-Fla.) announced today that artwork submitted by high school students from across the 16th district for the 2009 Congressional Art Competition will be displayed on Thursday May 7th at the Martin County Arts Council.  Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in each Congressional District. 

Over 100 high school students have submitted artwork from across 16th district for the 2009 Congressional Art Competition.  All students and parents are encouraged to visit the Martin County Arts Council to view the artwork.  

Congressman Tom Rooney will present awards to the top three artists on May 16th at 1:00 p.m. at the Martin County Arts Council.  

“It’s great to see such large participation in this year’s Congressional Art Competition from the 16th district,” said Rooney.  “The competition is a great opportunity for high school students from across the 16th district to showcase their talent.”
