  • Rooney Calls for UN Arms Embargo on South Sudan

    Congressman Tom Rooney introduced a resolution calling for the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to immediately impose an arms embargo on South Sudan, where government forces continue to wage violent offensives in violation of the unilateral ceasefire declared on May 22. In December 2016, the U.S. failed to secure the support of enough UNSC Members to pass an arms embargo resolution, and in February conditions deteriorated to the point of a famine declaration in parts of the country.   • Defense Authorization Passes with Rooney TBI Amendment

    Rooney’s amendment, offered in conjunction with his co-chair of the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force Congressman Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), requires the Secretary of Defense to report to Congress within 180 days on the implementation of recommendations from a recent report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the military services’ consideration of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in misconduct separations. Are you planning a visit to Washington, D.C.? Whether you're coming on a short business trip, or an extended family vacation, my office can help you make arrangements for some of the more popular Federal attractions in our Nation's Capital.

We are able to help you reserve tours to the White House, the U.S. Capitol, the Library of Congress, the Kennedy Center, the Supreme Court, and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

These tours are an excellent way to see all that the nation's capital has to offer and all of these tours are of no charge to you. All tickets are provided to my constituents on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the large number of visitors, please request them as early as possible in order to maximize your chances.

While you are in Washington, D.C., I encourage you and your family to stop by my office.

If you are a resident of the 17th Congressional District of Florida who plans to visit Washington, D.C., my office may be able to provide you with tickets to many of the area's most popular attractions and historical landmarks.
