Rooney Statement on Troubling June Jobs Report
For Immediate Release: July 6, 2012
Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) today issued the following statement on the disappointing June jobs report:
“This unemployment report highlights the fact that our economy, under President Obama’s failed policies, is moving in the wrong direction. Instead of growing and creating jobs at the rapid pace we historically have seen after a recession, our economy remains stagnant and job creation has stalled.
“Our businesses simply can’t grow or hire new workers while the President threatens them with massive tax hikes, piles on costly new regulations, and blocks energy policies that would bring down fuel costs. Small business owners face grave uncertainty about the future, and the President’s policies are making things worse.
“The House has passed dozens of jobs bills that would help the private sector grow and create jobs, but those bills can’t even get a vote in the Democrat-controlled Senate. With unemployment remaining above eight percent for 41 straight months, Senate Democrats need to stop dragging their feet and get to work for America’s families and small businesses.”
