Rooney: Is the President Serious?

Washington, D.C. – In response to President Obama’s declaration that, “The private sector is doing fine,” U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) today issued the following statement:
“With all due respect to the President, is he serious? On what planet and by what measure is our private sector doing fine? Today’s comments demonstrate just how out of touch the President is and how little he understands what it takes to run a business or grow our economy.
“Let’s look at the numbers. Unemployment is at 8.2 percent and has been above eight percent for more than three years. Our economic growth is at a stagnant 1.9 percent. Half of recent graduates are unemployed or underemployed. Simply put, our private sector isn’t doing fine – it’s struggling under the President’s failed policies.”
