Rooney: House Acts to Help Florida Small Businesses Grow, Create Jobs
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) today voted in favor of legislation passed with bipartisan support by the House to give small businesses a 20 percent tax cut, a move he said will help small businesses in Florida grow and create jobs.
“Small business owners in Florida are struggling to keep their doors open, while our unemployment rate remains near 10 percent,” Rooney said. “If small business owners are able to keep more of their hard-earned money, they can grow their businesses, invest in new equipment, hire new workers, or provide needed raises for their employees.
“Our bill will provide much-needed relief to more than 22 million small businesses across the country, including hundreds of thousands right here in Florida. Helping our small businesses and job creators should not be a partisan issue. The Senate should take up this bill quickly and send it to the President for his signature, so that we can start building an environment where our small businesses can grow and create jobs.”
According to an analysis completed this week by Fiscal Associates, Inc, the Small Business Tax Cut Act (HR 9) will lead to the creation of 194,000 new jobs and produce $112 billion more in GDP.
