Receives Chamber of Commerce’s “Spirit of Enterprise” Award

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) today received the prestigious “Spirit of Enterprise” award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his 100 percent voting record on behalf of America’s job creators.

“Government doesn’t create jobs; small businesses and entrepreneurs do,” Rooney said.  “When I talk to job creators in Florida, they’re not asking for a handout – they just want Washington to get out of the way and let them grow their businesses and hire new workers.  My focus in Washington is on building an environment where our businesses can grow and create new American jobs.”

“While many in Washington were busy playing politics, Representative Rooney was working to protect and advance the interests of America’s job creators,” said Thomas J. Donahue, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber.  “America’s beacon of light shines brighter today because of Representative Rooney and his efforts.”

Rooney earned a 100 percent pro-jobs, pro-growth  voting record from the U.S. Chamber, which scored 16 House votes that included a repeal of 1099 reporting requirements included in Obamacare,  an end to the three percent withholding tax on contractors, and a full repeal of Obamacare.  The Chamber also scored votes on a surface transportation extension and the free trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia, and Panama.
